It’s not your wedding.
This seems obvious but is actually something to keep in mind during the whole planning process, including picking out the bridesmaid dresses! Of course, you can give your opinion but don’t over step, what you like might not be what she likes! Sometimes the bride is looking for validation or approval more than looking for a whole new opinion on something.
Be ready to free up your schedule.
There’s a lot of fun events when it comes to a wedding! Depending on how involved your bride wants you to be, you could be attending things like the wedding dress appointment and the venue meeting. Also be ready to pay for things such as your bridesmaid dress and bachelorette party fees.
Make your bride feel special!
Weddings can be stressful to plan and prepare for. Keep your bride feeling excited by sending her inspo pins from Pinterest daily. This will keep her excitement up whilst giving her ideas. Make her feel special and go above and beyond by crafting her personalized “his and hers” house hold items like a rug or towels! Soon to be brides love gifts like these especially if it’s DIY! Lastly, CHECK UP ON HER. Every week send a text asking how she is doing and if there is anything that you can help with! If anything, it is just nice to know she’s not in it alone.
Don’t drink too much!
Of course, the reception is a time to celebrate and let loose! Everything is good in moderation though. You don’t want to be the drunk bridesmaid that needs to be taken care of! Be on your toes to help with anything that needs your assistance. Dance the night away and make it a night you will always remember!
Prepare a fantastic toast.
If you are chosen to make a toast, make it personal. Write from your heart and add some comedy to keep the crowd smiling. If the bride starts to happy cry then you know you’ve done your job!
Remember Murphy’s Law.
What can go wrong, will probably go wrong. Keep this in mind from the planning of the wedding months before until the couple says “I do.” Just be prepared to be there for your bride and never complain. Have plan a, b, and c!
